More rail access sought for port; but answers scarce on how

But after last year's record-high gas prices, everyone's signing a different tune. -- Enlarge this image.

Economic momentum has been building for some time to increase rail capacity at Charleston's ports, and The Post and Courier reports that a state-generated report encourages the idea.

Even at the long-delayed and not-yet-really-started port on the former Navy base there's a host of problems preventing getting rail in. -- Not the least of which is that adding a rail line would conflict with a planned (and long-debated) $180 million access road for the port.

Head over to The Post and Courier for their reporting on the report and what other problems folks see.
