New technology to help battle local fires

Charleston and North Charleston's fire departments are moving to improve on the three-ring binders filled with oft-outdated building plans. North Charleston has announced it will be utilizing mobile computers with CommandScope's software.
The system aims to give firefighters quick access to more-frequently updated building plans with rich content like photos of the structures -- a poor quality building plan was partially faulted for the death of nine firefighters in Charleston.
