Patriots Point pitches $100 million Medal of Honor Museum

Yesterday leaders of the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum announced plans to build a $100 million national attraction that would help revive the ailing historical destination: a much expanded Medal of Honor Museum.

Currently a Medal of Honor Museum exists inside the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier, that cost less than $2 million.

Proponents say now is the time to act as the number of living Medal of Honor recipients has fallen below 100.

Both the Charleston Regional Business Journal and Associated Press have solid reports with more details on the proposal.

The Patriots Point Development Authority is also looking at developing the some 360 acres surrounding the carrier.
