Today's story from The Charleston Regional Business Journal includes this revealing quote from Boeing CEO Jim McNerney, who told listeners on a conference call that the inefficiencies of putting the new plant in North Charleston would be "more than overcome by strikes happening every three or four years in Puget Sound."

McNerney said either Everett, Washington, or North Charleston would get the assembly line, and that a decision should be made within the next few weeks.

Charleston is top runner for second Boeing plant

The State reports that Boeing plans to come to a decision about the location of a second assembly line for its long-delayed 787 jetliner in the next couple of weeks.

In the top of the running are Charleston, South Carolina and Everett, Washington. The company just recently purchased a plant in North Charleston that will manufacture 787 fuselages.
