John Smith has his badge and job back at the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office some four years after he was stripped of it after an internal investigation.

The Post and Courier has a lengthy report on the matter and points to the use of personal connections and a change in political winds that allowed Smith to get back in after panels ruled that he had hit and abused a suspect who had tried to flee.

South Carolina is already notorious for it's good ol' boy system and stuff like this gives me heebie jeebies.
