Update June 9: Bond was set for Kelvin Barton yesterday--at the odd amount of $210,445.

And Barton has new charges of robbing another bank filed against him. Specifically, he's being charged with the April 5th robbery of the National Bank of South Carolina (1870 Sam Rittenberg Blvd.).

First reporting: Bank robbery suspect Kelvin Barton, 36, and the money he allegedly stole from a First Federal bank are both in custody.

The robbery occured at about 10:10 a.m. Tuesday morning at the First Federal Savings and Loan office (3628 Savannah Highway). After leading authorities on a car chase through North Charleston, the suspect wrecked into two cars on Dorchester Road. Three people were injuried due to the crash.

Barton is charged with bank robbery, failure to stop for blue lights, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident. He is being questioned in connection with other bank robberies in Charleston and North Charleston.
