City's homicide count up to nine with two shootings in less than 24 hours

In less than 24 hours Charleston police have been on the scene of two deadly downtown shootings, making for nine homicides in the city of Charleston in 2010.

John Jenkins of North Charleston died of a single gunshot wound early Tuesday morning in front of the St. John's Episcopal Church on Hanover Street. Later on Tuesday evening, police responded to a fight on Nunan Street, but by the time they showed up one of the men involved in the scuffle was found shot dead.

Charleston police are searching for a man in connection with the Nunan Street shooting. His name is Thompson White and The Post and Courier offers a photograph of the suspect along with contact information for anyone who may know of his whereabouts.

No one has been arrested in connection with the death of John Jenkins.
