The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is in the headlines for a backlog of 4,500 cases.
Most of that forensics backlog is hitting the DNA lab, which can handle only approximately 200 cases a month, but has been seeing nearly 350.
WSPA TV, out of the upstate, has a nice video report (watch it here or up top.)
Blamed for the backlog are budget cuts to the forensics staff.
