Aquarium considers new enhancement ideas

The South Carolina Aquarium has been open for a full decade and is now debt-free, so it's the perfect time for them to think over ways to make their next ten years fresh and successful.

Some of the changes being considered are:

  • Moving and adding exhibits
  • Adding a nature trail to the entrance to strengthen the aquarium's connection and visibility from Concord Street
  • Relocating the retail shop to near the entrance so visitors can make retail sales without having to buy a ticket
  • Adding a 600,000-gallon water tank over the loading dock for sharks and rays

Aquarium Chief Executive Kevin Mills said the ideas need to be thought over and digested first, but some of the more feasible ideas should be put into place within the next few years.

The Post and Courier has the total low-down on the various adaptations the Aquarium is considering; check it out here.
