Children aren't the only thing growing at the Children's Museum

Children aren’t the only thing growing at the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry, the CML Kid’s Garden is too with an interactive exhibit expansion this spring.

The expansion plans include a hand-crafted rock water feature, running waterfall, Lowcountry marshland, local vegetation, a filtration system with clear piping and a miniature mound that shows the effects of runoff. The 300 square-foot expansion was designed by Artists Jody Smith and Thom Hunt of Coastal Rock Productions with landscape design provided by Ed Carlile of Carlile Landscaping.  A decorative concrete class from Big Bamboo Studios headquartered in Fairbury, Nebraska, will also be donating their time to the project by carving and hand-painting the rock features at the Museum, Sherwin Williams has kindly donated the paint for the project as well.  

Ground breaking for the exhibit is scheduled for Thursday, February 24, with completion expected by the middle of March. Members and guests are invited to watch the work in person or online at our website, www.explorecml.org. Special activities and programs will also be planned surrounding the Garden’s transformation.

The Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization.  Open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  Admission is $7 per person and free for children less than 12 months of age.
