A week ago the Charleston-based Water Missions International announced it would be sending water purification equipment to Haiti.

Read more stories on this subject in our Haiti topic page.As of today they say they have 10 purification units on the ground and soon hope to have as many as 70 -- each unit can provide drinking water for 5,000 people.

The Charleston City Paper has details on the status of the group (and how you can help), while Charleston Magazine has a brief about the group's actions and, more interestingly, a photo gallery from the group's time there; see those here.
