A $19 million 'green' energy debacle at USC

The University of South Carolina's $19 million biomass facility was supposed to herald in a new era for both the state's and university's green energy industry — but now it's teetering on the edge of a prime case study in debacles.
The plant — which turns wood chips into steam energy — is being dubbed a "money pit" and has only managed to fulfill its goal 18% of its two years in operation.
