Update 2: The number of deaths in South Carolina has rissen to 22 and more than 500 cases have been reported in Charleston County alone.
Update: The Post and Courier offers a new more-thorough recent report with more local details (read it here; subscription)
First reporting: The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control has report 15 deaths from the flu season, including a 73-year-old woman on James Island.
I'll point you to ABC News 4's report.
This season is regarded as the most active in a decade, with the worst passing in late January or February.
