BusinessWeek has deemed South Carolina the 8th laziest state in the country.

South Carolina lands on the list following the even lazier states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

According to the blurb posted about the Palmetto State:

South Carolinians watch more television than all other Americans, according to BLS data. A report by the South Carolina Health & Environmental Control Dept. shows about half of adults do not get the recommended amount of physical activity, only one-third have sidewalks in their neighborhood, and only 37.4 percent use walking trails, parks, playgrounds, and sports fields for physical activity.

In addition, the article points out that, on average, South Carolinians spend only 3 hours and 26 minutes a day doing work and our obesity ranking is No. 9 in the country.

The rankings are based on data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Incentive enough to get up and do something about that sedentary lifestyle of yours? Maybe. Or you could just go see what's on TV and blow off work for the beach.
