The Charleston County school district has partnered with Charleston County Medical Society doctors and other medical experts to gain knowledge and influence students to be active and eat healthy.

The new health and wellness plan promotes five areas of health for its teachers and other employees: physical health and nutrition, social emotional health, family friendly policies, employee role models, health and wellness partners.

For example, kids at Mitchell Elementary School kick off their school days with morning yoga and healthy eating exercises between lessons on a daily basis.

Hop over to the report from Live 5 News that explains further the new initiative that is getting kids involved and interested in healthy lifestyles at a young age in hopes of benefitting them for their entire lives.
