At 24 years, Chichi is one of the world's oldest dogs and from Charleston

You may remember hearing about the 24-year-old miniature poodle Uncle Chichi that is thought to be the or at least one of the world's oldest dogs. Well, what's been overlooked is that the star came from Charleston's John Ancrum SPCA shelter.

The best way to get to know Chichi a bit is to check out the video clip with him on Good Morning America up top, and then take a read of The New York Times' profile of the pooch and a failed bid to get in the Guinness Book of World Records to edge out a 21-year-old dog as the world's oldest.

But rest assured, the recent health scare seems to have passed.

A hat tip to The Post and Courier for spotting the Charleston link.
