$25,000 scam on Charleston Salvation Army leads to outpouring of donations

After a bogus $25,000 donation caused the local chapter of the Salvation Army to blow its budget on Christmas gifts, an outpouring of support has turned the sad story into a windfall: The group has received almost $50,000 and counting.
About half has come from smaller donations of everyday folk and one anonymous donor who gave $25,000.
The Post and Courier has the story of the turnaround; read it here.
