A rogue deer meet an unhappy ending on Meeting Street early this morning.

An 8-point buck was spotted darting across Meeting Street around 9 a.m. In hopes of protecting the deer until animal control arrived, the owner of D and A Cabinetworks attempted to trapped the deer in a Meeting Street yard. Unfortunately, the deer escaped, only to get struck by a SUV in front of 708 Meeting Street.

Head over to The Post and Courier for the sad and peculiar story.
