A magnitude 2.8 earthquake shook Summerville at about 5 a.m. this morning, according to the U.S. Geological survey. -- But it's not the largest in recent memory by any means, a 3.6 hit back in December 2008.
So far there have been no reports of noticeable damage, which isn't surprising for this size of quake. Around the world there are some 1,000 2-2.9 earthquakes a day. Still, it's news to us in the Lowcountry.
