There is a citywide effort to name the neighborhoods in the City of Myrtle Beach to make it easier to identify those areas for various projects and emergency response situations.

The residents that live between Mr. Joe White Avenue and U.S. 501 have requested to be officially designated by their long standing nickname of "Harlem".
