Ten sunken barges that were uncovered in last year's record breaking drought will be removed by Santee Cooper.

It is suspected that the wooden barges were used some 40 years ago to build the I-95 bridge across the river. The barges on Lake Marion, at Ballards Pointe in Chapel Branch, will take up to 10 weeks to remove.
