Jessica Phillips, 21, and Michael Duffy, 20, and their dog Buddy became trapped in Rat Island Creek on their 14-foot johnboat overnight after they ran out of gas.

The pair had called 911 around midnight, and a helicopter was able to readily find them, but because the tide was low it would be difficult to reach them. Since they had water, officials felt it was best to let the pair wait until the tide raised and the stranded boaters could be more easily reached.
