Pygmy sperm whale washes up on Folly

According to NOAA's National Ocean Service a pygmy sperm whale was found washed up on Folly Beach around 6:30 this morning.

The whale was some 10-feet long and weighed around 800 pounds. No word on why yet, but The Post and Courier has some speculation.

A pygmy sperm whale in happier times. The whale is slightly larger than a human.This week other sperms whales have washed up in Florida on Tuesday (August 19) and in North Carolina on Monday (August 18).
