Update June 26, 2012:  The likely cause of the rash of shark bites along the Grand Strand coast is determined to be a migrating group of blacktip sharks.

An expert quoted in this Sun News article says it was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. 

Update June 15, 2012: More suspected shark attacks happened yesterday, June 14 in the water between 74th Avenue and 82nd Avenue in Myrtle Beach. 

It is still unclear if the four attacks to four people were from shark(s), but WMBF News Reporter Ashley Taylor reported that one of the victims' doctor believed that, "based on the tooth pattern, his wound was inflicted by a shark."

Parts of the beach between 62nd and 82nd Ave were closed for over an hour after the attacks but were re-opened that evening.

First Report June 4th:  A shark attack was reported to have taken place by the 2nd Avenue Pier in Myrtle Beach on Saturday evening.

A 25 year-old man was bitten on the foot by an unspecified type of shark. Some witnesses claim that the shark was still on the man's leg when he came out of the water.
