Drilling off coast of South Carolina ready to take a big step forward

Perhaps as proof that environmentalist can never really relax, the day after word came that a contested coal plant was all but dead, word comes that offshore drilling in South Carolina is about to get closer to a reality.

The Post and Courier's Bo Peterson writes that a state "feasibility committee" is ready to give the OK for exploratory drilling.

The large detractions to the case for drilling off our coast is that there is likely little there and that the area's habitat is delicate and very important to fish populations.
