Update: The smoking ban was rejected.

With Charleston County voting to ban smoking in the unincorporated areas of the county, it looks likely that the debate will heat up around a rekindled North Charleston smoking ban.

In 2008 the then council shot it down 6-4.

But now a draft ordinance is once again in the works, and five council member seats have changed hands.

Stay tuned, and if you have thoughts, write your local councilman.
