Charleston airport revamp design settles as protest lingers

Plans are settling for the $150 million upgrade and expansion to the Charleston International Airport, with construction still expected to begin this year.

The latest alterations to the previous plan include a large glass back wall to look over the airport and a glass-sided dome 37-feet in diameter to cap the atrium (both in the rendering above).

The Post and Courier writes about the planned revamp in greater detail; take a read here.

Meanwhile a protest over alleged improper influence and information sharing by one member of the Charleston County Aviation Authority members in awarding the contract to Hitt Contracting Incorporated has been heard by the authority who says they may take up to 30 days to review their own actions — ABC News 4 offers more details on the appeal.
