$40 cab rides for some Charleston students

NBC News 2 writes that the Charleston County School District is spending up to $40 to transport some kids to school.

Why? Those students go to schools that fell far short of federal standards, and No Child Left Behind requires that parents be allowed to send their students to other schools ... at no cost to the parents.

The good news? (if you want to call it that.) The district used to use a bus to transport those kids, costing some $300 a day.

Go get the story over at NBC News 2.

Maybe it's time the school district started to use a van similar to the courtesy vans at car dealers.
