C of C student gets elected -- with 22 votes

After winning with just 22 write-in votes, Nick Shalosky is the newest member of the District 20 Constituent Board of Trustees.

Shalosky, a junior at The College of Charleston, represents a new era in politics given that he campaigned solely on the Internet.

He was able to pull it off as no one filed to enter for one of the seven Constituent Board positions.

He told The Post and Courier:
I just started asking my friends to write in my name when they went to vote. My goal was to show that students can decide an election.

Shalosky proves that with ambition and persistence, students can make a difference with a little help from Facebook and the rest of the cyber terrain.
