Ever wonder how your tax dollars are being spent? Ponder no more, the city of Charleston has its entire checkbook online for all to see.

In an effort to increase government transparency, you can now search monthly expenditures made by local government. The website is easy to navigate, and the information dates from 2007 up to June 2009. Each listing states the name of a vendor, transaction date, item description, fund title, and cost.

Go on and dive in.

The Post and Courier has an article on the online checkbook if you want some more background on the new initiative.
