Results in for Town of James Island elections (update: certified)
Update August 6: The results have been certified, and the new council members are: Robin Welch, Carter McMillan, Karen Wilder-Smalls, and Leonard Blank (the only incumbent re-elected.)
The Post and Courier has a bit more on the update.
Update August 4: He won't be sworn in until September, but Bill Woolsey is the Town of James Island's new mayor-elect.
First reporting: Preliminary reports are in for the Town of James Island election with 24 of 26 precinct reporting.
- In the mayoral election, Bill Woolsey leads with nearly 40% of the vote to Mary Clark's nearly 20% -- it seems hard to imagine a scenario where Woolsley is not the next mayor,
- Leading for the four town council seats are Robin Welch, Carter McMillan, Karen Wilder-Smalls, Leonard Blank, with Denny McKeever running a close fifth.
- It appears that both questions will also pass. The first has a 62% approval to widen council to six members, and the second has 54% to stager the council elections.
