Is South Carolina set to buck the establishment this election season?

Some political folks love the saying, "As the South goes, so goes the Nation," especially when talking about the Republican Party.  But will South Carolina be going it alone when it comes to this years GOP nomination?

With the polling numbers and cash in the coffers, as it stands the front-runner for the Republican nomination for President come the 2012 election is former Massachusetts Governor, Mitt Romney. But, that doesn't hold true in South Carolina. Since 1980 South Carolina has successfully picked the GOP nominee; however, in the age of the Internet and the Tea Party things may change. 

According to the polls the ones who rein supreme around these parts are Tea Party darlings: Palin, Bachmann and former Godfather's Pizza CEO Herman Cain.
