James Island's new Mayor, Bill Woolsey, chaired his first Town Council meeting on Tuesday and proposed a $1 million cut to the town budget which previously stood at $3 million.

Included in his proposal were some spending cuts, cuts to his own salary and funding for 150th anniversary Civil War among other things. The new budget included a revenue projection of $1.5 million for the year.

The new budget has yet to be approved by Woolsey and the Town Council, but it looks like they're aiming for a final decision in early October.

The Post and Courier has the post on what all went down at yesterday's Town Council meeting; read it here.
