53 miles from Charleston, 73-year-old rescued from boat after having stroke-like symptoms

The Coast Guard evacuated a 73-year-old man from a 23-foot boat some 53-miles southeast of Charleston on Wednesday, June 15, who was having stroke-like symptoms .

Coast Guard Sector Charleston received a call at 12:44 p.m. from the owner of the vessel requesting medical assistance for the passenger.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston diverted an MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston. The crew arrived on scene at 1:42 p.m., safely hoisted the passenger and transported him to the Medical University of South Carolina.
