The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds have been grounded due to the sequester of federal funding, thus cancelling their appearance at Myrtle Beach's 75th birthday celebration, planned for June 28 - 30, 2013.

The Sun News is reporting that since this prestigious group often makes or breaks the success of an air show, it has been decided that the entire show, despite many other performers lined up to appear, has been cancelled. Other air shows across the country are also being affected due to similar circumstnaces with both the Thunderbirds and U.S. Navy Blue Angels, who visited Myrtle Beach in 2004.
