The County Council's Finance Committee unanimously approved nine strategies to dispose of solid waste more efficiently in Charleston County.

Currently, the the county burns 70 percent of garbage and dumps the rest in a landfill. The steps would vastly improve upon this system and boost recycling of solid waste to 40 percent.
