Dorchester school board member dies

ReevesLongtime educator and Dorchester County School Board member Bill Reeves Jr. died Tuesday after surgery. He was 69 years old.

From The Post and Courier:

Born in Ridgeville, Reeves spent almost his entire life in Dorchester County. He worked for more than two decades as a coach, teacher, assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent before being promoted to superintendent of Dorchester School District 2 in 1985.

In 2007, Reeves was honored by having a new elementary school in Summerville named after him, the only local school board member to be so honored.

Reeves retired as superintendent in 1994, but his love of education drew him back when he was elected to serve on the school board in 2002.
