A drop in the bucket
The city's proposed budget totalling $152.5 million for fiscal year 2011-12, is looking at alternative ways to increase revenue without increasing taxes.
One such way is to increase micro-rates on public works such as water and sewer. The City of Myrtle Beach has proposed a 4.5% increase in their water and sewer rates for its fiscal year of 2011.
The proposed budget has to be approved before July 1 when the actual fiscal year starts.
As a step to be more open and public the City of Myrtle Beach has made a copy of the proposed budget available for review online. Check it out here.
