Family settles for money, apology after daughter received birth control without parental consent

A lawsuit has finally been settled in the case of a Burke High School student who was taken after school to a clinic and given a birth control shot without parental consent.

The Post and Courier reports that the Charleston County School District paid the family $5,000 while the nonprofit Carolina Empowerment Group would not disclose the amount they paid to the family. In addition, the family agreed to drop a federal lawsuit accusing both parties of invading parental rights.
