Hacker compromises millions of SC residents' debit card numbers, SSNs

Live 5 News reports that an international hacker has gained access to 387,000 credit and debit card numbers and 3.6 million social security numbers via the South Carolina Department of Revenue's website and a server.
In all, approximately 77 percent of South Carolina residents have been compromised by the breach.
The attacks were not random, however. An initial breach of the website was reported in late August of this year and two more attempts followed in early September. Those breaches were currently under investigation.
