Hurricane Igor predicted to bring large swells to local beaches

Although Hurricane Igor is forecast to remain about 850 to 950 miles off the coast of South Carolina and over the weekend, visitors to local beaches need to look out for some serious swells and the potential for dangerous rip currents.
According to The Post and Courier, waves are expected to climb to 4 feet today and possibly 6 feet to 8 feet over the weekend as Igor passes far out to sea. They're even saying that Folly Beach County Park could be underwater come this weekend.
The Category 3 storm will likely bring conditions similar to what the area saw this month with Hurricane Earl.
To keep an eye on Igor and the storm's projected path, be sure to check out the National Hurricane Center's map and continuing coverage.
