The combined effects of the recession plus extremely high rent costs are taking a major toll on King Street businesses.

In less than a year, thirteen businesses have closed on the major hub in downtown Charleston. The prime location is the ideal spot for a shop or restaurant, but depending on the size of the space, having to cough up to $12,000 a month can put even the best of the best out of business.

ABC News 4 has a little piece chronicling the rent dilemma downtown.
