Lowcountry Girl Scouts suffering from lack of funding

A lack of funds is forcing the Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina to sell the Girl Scouts' Camp Low Country property, the Girl Scout Building on Cross County Road in North Charleston, the Florence Service Center building and about 400 acres that surround Camp Sandy Ridge in Bennettsville.

Despite the fact that membership is on the rebound, the merging of two eastern South Carolina councils back in 2005 took a monetary toll on the group that has yet to be recouped.

So, help out the Girl Scouts and buy some cookies why dontcha?

In the meantime, The Post and Courier has the story on the unfortunate closure of Camp Low Country and other properties.
