More parking meters with less excuse not to feed them

The area around the old Pavilion site, 8th and 9th Avenues North, in Myrtle Beach will be the site of 82 new parking meters that accept credit cards as payment.

That area is popular for visitors as it's close to the beach, local merchants and boardwalk, but the only available parking is in privately operated lots, the parking garage, or at meters on the street. But seriously, who carries quarters?

For awhile, parking enforcement officers were available to make change for you, but that required a call and time to wait for his or her arrival. These new meters will allow you to swipe a card and get on with your day. If you've got to park on the street, this is the way to go.

You can check out this WMBF story about how these new meters, while costly, will boost revenue. The new meters will be in force beginning on March 1, 2013.
