The idea to create a new artificial reef got going after local fisherman Tony Smoak passed away in July. Captain of the Fishwrapper, he often wen for billfish and those that knew him thought a reef to help make more billfish was the perfect memorial.

The only catch is that billfish like deep water so the reef would be 350 feet down and cost some $100,000.
