New traffic light system aims to unclog U.S. 17 in Mt. Pleasant

A $436,000 traffic light system is expected to be in place by this fall to alleviate traffic woes for U.S. 17 drivers in Mount Pleasant on the far side of I-526.
A 30% improvement is being promised — but, beware, it's being called "cutting-edge".
Many reports abound, but the better can be read at The Post and Courier who also has a nice map of the work area.
Hopefully it will be a real treat for commuters, especially as the Johnnie Dodds widening is due to be complete in November 2012.
