(Updates at the bottom.)

As Tropical Storm Beryl approaches, the search continues for the swimmer who went missing on Sunday afternoon at Folly Beach.

Lifeguards attempted to reach the man after he went under near the Folly Beach pier, but he did not resurface.

I'll point you to NBC News 2's report.

Rough surf and rip currents prompted lifeguards to issue a red flag warning for Folly Beach all day. The warning indicates that swimmers should not go into the water above knee-depth. Once the search and rescue team hit the beach, all swimmers were barred from the water.

Update May 29: At least one other swimmer faced distress due to strong currents this holiday weekend — on Memorial Day a kiteboarder rescued a man who was trying to swim ashore to Sullivan's Island.

I'll point you to Live 5 News' report.

We've heard no update on the missing Folly Beach swimmer.
