First Report: Mixed media artist Terry Brennan of Little River submitted his work to the unique ArtPrize event this year. Out of thousands of international artists, Terry's three dimensional piece, "Dumpster Diver" made it to the top 25.

What makes the ArtPrize event special is that it takes place across all of the Grand Rapids, Michigan metro area. Artwork takes over the city for 2 weeks. Artists are allowed one entry and must be accepted by a participating venue to exhibit. Once the art is displayed at a venue, the attending public votes on the submissions. More details about how it all works is here.

About the work:

"Dumpster Diver" will be an expanded version of my current process of 3-D mixed media assemblage. It will be created to engage the viewers of all ages in conversations about alternate use of common everyday objects that maybe discarded. The vision for the work is to create awareness of just a few creatures that are effected by our daily practices.

More details here.

A Facebook photo album of the installation taking place is here. There is also a dedicated Facebook page just for Terry's ArtPrize effort here.

According to his Facebook page, ArtPrize doesn't disclose the exact placement Terry received but I suspect it doesn't matter that much to him. As far as Terry's other work, you can see examples at the Charleston based Michael Mitchell Gallery here or the Greenville, NC City Art Gallery.

Terry is currently accepting commission requests and will be located in Beaufort from December until early March.
