Alligator caught after lounging in IOP surf

Yesterday, an eight-foot alligator was captured on the beach at Isle of Palms, most likely after journeying through a freshwater drainage ditch and ending up at the ocean.

Unfortunately, the poor guy isn't in the greatest of conditions after being battered by the ocean surf for the majority of the day on Wednesday.

And, something I hate even more to report, is that the gator was slated to be euthanized after being captured. According to experts, alligators have extremely strong return instincts, and chances are that this particular animal would have continued to try to get back to the IOP beach, which makes him a danger.
