College of Charleston strikes back against move-out trash piles with a thrift sale

It used to be that at the end of every semester, area residents were up in arms over the unsightly and wasteful roadside trash piles left of cloths, furniture, and many still usable items by the mass of evacuating College of Charleston students.

While those piles still persist, the problem has been becoming lighter as the college has worked to salvage items that were still in good condition at a public "Lighten Your Load" sale.

The Charleston City Paper offers up a profile; read it over here.

The sale this time around passed earlier this month, but we'll watch for the next one.

The college also holds regular bike sales of abandoned (and seized) bikes from campus.
